Gail Johnson grew up in Rockford Il and attended local schools. She graduated from Rock
Valley College and earned an Associate in Arts Degree with an emphasis in Social Work. She went on
and completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Services, as an adult learner.
Gail has worked for thirty-plus years in Human Services. Her career has been diverse, as she
has worked with the elderly to youth at risk, pregnant, and parenting teens. Prenatal Program Director
for Crusader Clinic. She moved to Baltimore Maryland and she had the distinct privilege to work for
John Hopkins Hospital Alcohol and other Drug dependencies Unit. She relocated back to Rockford
and worked for Booker Washington Community Center and recruited minority homes for Foster Care.
She then accepted a position with Catholic Charities as a child welfare specialist with the Family
Preservation Projects. In 2006 She worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family
Services, she served as a Child Protection Specialist, she then accepted a position as a Child Welfare
Specialist. While employed with DCFS she facilitated a foster care recruitment event and worked
with Senator Dave Syverson and State Representative Chuck Jefferson to bring attention to the need
for foster care homes in our community. Gail then accepted a position with Safe Families for
Children as the Northern Regional Area Director.
Gail has volunteered in her local community: the City of Rockford. YMCA, Banner of Truth Family
Church, Life Church, and a mission trip to an area devastated by Katrina and help build a playground
with Kids Around the World. She is passionate about giving back to her community in a tangible
form.
Gail has also participated as a conversationalist, in which she shares keys to living a life
of freedom and fulfillment. She was featured in Chromelight magazine and was interviewed
about her 1st published book Waiting in the Wings. She also participated in the Halo Room in
which she taught Bible Study to encourage, empower and enlighten both men and women in
practical ways on the Halo Facebook page.
